Arbeloa, well on his way to recovery

“I'm really looking forward to returning to the team soon”, revealed the defender, who is working hard in the Real Madrid Sporting City to overcome his injury.
Early in March, Arbeloa suffered an avulsion fracture of the lower pole of his right patella. Since then, he has been working daily in the Real Madrid Sporting City to return to the team as soon as possible. The Whites' defender is feeling optimistic: “I am really keen to get back with the team soon. I think this year we'll be paying a visit to Cibeles once or twice”.

His working day starts with the mobilisation of the joint to avoid overflexing it. His training is divided into three stages: aerobic work on the handbike, strength exercises in the gym and work in the pool. Before finishing, he is treated by the team's physios.

Santiago Lozano, the physical trainer, is responsible for supervising his recovery: “He's making good progress, above all because he really likes to train. The handbike is tough because it demands a lot and he isn't used to it. In the gym he is moving freely but we've limited the exercises a little because of his injury. Arbeloa has a lot of energy and he likes intense training sessions. Moderate sessions are not his thing”.
