Roberto Carlos joined Real Madrid in 1996 . Was given him at number 3 jersey and was the club's first choice as defensive left flank during the seasons 1996-97 & 2006-7 . Over 11 of his seasons with Real Madrid , Carlos held : 584 matches in all competitions and scoring 71 goals .
