Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for the 2014 Golden Foot

The prize is awarded in Monaco each year to the best footballer over 28. 
Cristiano Ronaldo is in the running for the Golden Foot for the second year in a row. The prize, which was created in 2003, recognises the best player over the age of 28 both in a footballing, individual and collective aspect. Alongside the Real Madrid forward, the list of candidates is compiled of: Henry, Iniesta, Neuer, Pirlo, Ribery, Rooney, Yaya Touré, Thiago Silva aand Brazilian player Marta.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday the 13th of October in Monaco, with Prince Albert present. The winner will be chosen by fans via the web, or Facebook page, of Golden Foot. Voting is now open, and will close on August 24.

The previous winners include: Roberto Baggio (2003), Nedved (2004), Shevchenko (2005), Ronaldo (2006), Del Piero (2007), Roberto Carlos (2008), Ronaldinho (2009), Totti (2010), Giggs (2011), Ibrahimovic (2012) and Drogba (2013).
