How the Super Cup celebrations in the dressing room went

The players took photos of themselves with the trophy they won in Cardiff.

Real Madrid have got the season off to a great start, winning the European Super Cup in the first official match of the year. After Casillas lifted the trophy, the players celebrated the triumph on the Cardiff City Stadium pitch. Following that, the squad members continued their celebrations in the intimacy of their dressing room. There, they partied, hugging each other and took photos to immortalise the moment of a team looking to complete an historic season.

James: “I hope it is the first of many titles”

“We are deserved winners”, said Ramos.

James Rodríguez made his Real Madrid debut while winning the first title of the season. The Colombian midfielder expressed how he felt at the end of the game against Sevilla: “I am happy that we have won this title and I hope it is the first of many. I felt great. I've barely been training 11 days and I'm adapting quickly to the team”.

“Playing alongside so many stars is really special and is always a pleasure. I'm also really happy about the support from the fans, we will always give them our all”.

Ramos: "It is a good way to get the season started"
“We are clearly deserved winners. It was a tough game, it is always difficult against Sevilla, a team that gives its all to win every ball. I'm happy about the win, about keeping a clean sheet and securing the first title of the season. It is a good way to start”.

“When there is a title up for grabs the team is motivated from the first training session of the pre-season. We started strongly in order to be in good shape for this game. The team responded wonderfully and we made the most of our chances".

Carvajal: “Starting like this will give us a lot of confidence”
“We wanted to begin the season with a title, so we are really happy. Starting well like this gives you a lot of confidence. Winning all six titles is a tough task but Real Madrid strives for the best and we will give it our all to win every one of them”.

James and Kroos make their Real Madrid debuts

Both players were included in the starting line up for the European Super Cup final.

Cardiff City Stadium was the stage in which James Rodríguez and Toni Kroos made their Real Madrid debuts. Both men were part of the starting line up for the final of the European Super Cup and managed to win their first title wearing a Real Madrid jersey.

The German midfielder played the full 90 minutes, while James was involved up until the 71', when he was taken off for Isco. The Colombian international almost scored in the beginning of the second half, but was denied by a Beto save.

Bale: "Winning the Super Cup is a dream come true"

"We controlled the game and were in good physically”, reflected Pepe.

Gareth Bale was crowned a European Super Cup champion in Cardiff, an achievement the Welshman highlighted after the game: "It is a dream come true. Everyone comes to Real Madrid to win trophies, so we will be looking to win everything that is up for grabs this season. Cristiano Ronaldo has shown in game after game what he is capable of”.

Pepe: “This is an important day for us”
“We controlled a lot of the match and were good physically. The work we've done throughout the week has been spectacular. This is an important day for every player at Real Madrid”.

“The quality that Kroos and James possess is incredible. I hope that it is a good year for everyone. We have to fight for everything because Madrid fights for every title. Perhaps this will be a new cycle or a new era for Real Madrid”.

Ancelotti: “We won the final by playing well and with a lot of confidence”

“With the reinforcements the standard of the team has improved, both players did well”, explained the Italian coach (avance).

Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the press after the game against Sevilla: “We won by playing well, with a good idea of how to play and with a lot of confidence. It wasn't easy preparing for this match because we didn't have a lot of time, but the team has done really well. The Champions League win has given the squad more character and confidence”.

“Cristiano is completely recovered and there is nothing to be said about Bale of Benzema because they are both fantastic. Casillas was excellent tonight. What happened during the World Cup is forgotten, this is a new season for him and for us. He has everyone's trust”.

Kroos and James's debuts
“The new reinforcements have improved the standard of the team. Both players did very well today. Kroos was perfect, he played very well, was extremely quick and was clear with his ideas. James struggled a bit during the first half, but was great during the second”.

Cristiano Ronaldo: “The team has started the year the best way possible”

“We did a great job and we are happy about how the match went”, added Benzema.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the two goals that earned Real Madrid their second ever European Super Cup title. The Portuguese man was full of enthusiasm after the match: “This is a very special moment, I didn't have this title in my trophy cabinet. The team was great and we have started the year the best way possible, on the right foot, which is what we wanted to do in order to give ourselves confidence ahead of the rest of the season. We were deserved winners and that is why we are taking the Cup home”.

“We won this title for the fans, they are always by our side and it is a special moment to celebrate that. I had problems at the end of the season and during the World Cup. Now I'm fine, I scored two very important goals today, I'm delighted and I'm back. The team also helped me and my first goal gave me confidence. I didn't feel any pain and it is important to help the team win this Cup”.
